Autonomy program
Personal autonomy programs:
The program includes: feeding, toilet, personal care and hygiene, dressing and undressing themselves, and spatial and time orientation. These programs might be integrated during therapy, but some of them might even be implemented in the child's everyday environment. These programs start at an early age while always evaluating the child's development phases. Enhancing the child's capacity in these activities enables a better transition in the aspects of social autonomy. The abovementioned skills, as time passes take other forms and directions such as feeding. If the child is capable of feeding himself , later he will be capable of preparing easy snacks and might even be capable of preparing a whole meal.
Social autonomy programs:
The program includes: Communicative skills, socialization and ability to be part of a group, active capacity, usage of communication means and devices, usage of transportation means etc. These programs are mainly implemented with the operators that provide these services and later, the individual with DS becomes capable of completing these daily tasks himself.
